Mighty Mouse not scrolling up, down or side-to-side anymore? Solution!
A few days ago my wireless Mighty Mouse refused scrolling up. This is my third Mighty Mouse. My second one had the exact same problem, what did I do? I tore it apart so I could clean it but I totally fucked up the whole tearing down part so I had to throw it away.
So I was a lot more careful this time. Apparently there is a very simple and effective solution to clean the internal hardware, it worked immediately! So if you have any problems with scrolling up or down or left or right or all of them, try this and it’ll scroll again.

How to clean the scroll ball on your Mighty Mouse? Use a clean lint-free cloth lightly moistened with water. Hold the mouse upside-down and roll the ball pretty hard while cleaning it to help dislodge any particles that may have collected on the internal hardware.
Illustrated Tutorial:
1. Take your beloved Mighty Mouse.
2. Turn it upside-down.
3. Use a clean lint-free cloth (lightly moistened with water but not required).
4. Roll the ball pretty hard while cleaning it to help dislodge any particles that may have collected on the internal hardware.
5. It works again!
I can assure you that it works! I’ve fixed two Mighty Mice already with this solution and there is also an article about it on the Apple Support pages.

Yay thank you so much! That worked like a charm. Mine stopped scrolling up for a little under 3 minutes but it was driving me insane so I did as you described and it fixed it immediately. Very nice.
