We want a 100-400 f/4-5.6L IS USM II!

Blog No Comments

I really want to replace – add to collection – my Canon 70-300 with a Canon 100-400 but the one thing that’s keeping me is that it is an old lens – released September 1998. It is an amazing lens though, but c’mon, it’s almost 12 years on the market, the IS is outdated, it’s time for an update and I’m afraid that when I buy it now, it will get updated, lol.

I know, rumors about a 100-400 f/4-5.6L IS USM update go way back to 2004-2005, but lately there have been quite a lot rumors though. A few soures are saying Canon will be sticking with the 100-400 focal length for any update they do to the lens.

Something else now, have you heard about the 550D yet? DXO Mark has posted some text results of the sensor in a pre production Rebel T2i/550D. Take it for what it’s worth. It shouldn’t be much of a surprise that things are about on par with the 7D, outside of ISO performance.

If you have any news about the 100-400 or other rumors, let me know!
