Snow photography with some pretty clouds

Took a little break from studying and went outside to take some pictures in the snow and of the snow. These are only a few of them, like always there are also posted on my deviantArt. Espicially a lot of sky photographs this time, the clouds were looking very lovely with the sun and all. Unfortunately a lot of the snow was already melted, but considering it snowed three days ago it’s pretty impresive that there still was snow left – at least here in Belgium. Enjoy!

It’s snowing! A Blackbird sitting on a tree

Yesterday morning it started snowing and, euhm… it didn’t stop. It kept snowning and snowing for a few hours. When it – finally – stopped I grabbed my 500D and took some snow landscape shots when all of a sudden this Blackbird (Turdus merula) came sitting on our tree. I was only able to take one shot, then he/she flew away. Luckily it was a good shot, at least, that’s my opinion. You can also spot it on my DA. Enjoy!

Lovely weather, mushroom photography

When I woke up this morning the sun was shining and the sky was very blue so I put my shoes on, jumped on my bike and went to one of the many local parks again. It was very crowded, lots of groups, jogging people, hiking people, etc… So it wasn’t really quite and I didn’t had the chance to photograph a lot of birds. Luckily there were a lot of new mushrooms, numnumnumnum!

People were looking very strange when I was practically lying on ground, but who cares! I have a lot of nice shots, you can find a few them at the bottom of this post and also in my DA Gallery of course as always. If somebody knows the exact name of one the mushrooms feel free to share it.

The Great Tit – bird photography

Today I was able to take a picture of the Great Tit, pretty strange name if you ask me. In Dutch it’s “koolmees” and in Latin it’s “Parus major”. It is a passerine bird in the tit family Paridae. It is a widespread and common species throughout Europe in any sort of woodland. It is resident, and most Great Tits do not migrate.

It’s taken with my new lens – Canon EF 70-300/4-5.6 IS USM – and I must say that I really like the lens! I like it a lot more than the 55-250. Enjoy the pictures, more to come next week!

Autumn Photgraphy 1 – mushrooms & birds

Today was a beautiful autumn day, I woke up with the sun breaking through the clouds so it was a beautiful day for some autumn photography. I went to two parks/forest in my town to take some pictures of the early autumn. There wasn’t much happening though, a lot of leaves still need to fall down and I haven’t spotted a lot autumn animals/flora yet. Nonetheless I have found three types of mushrooms and saw a grey heron.

Moon and Stars photography

Tonight I took my first pictures of the moon. I took pictures of stars before but not as good as this time. It still isn’t good but I’m getting there . I really need one of those telezoom lenses. These are shot with a Canon 500D, 50-250 IS lens. For the moon the shutter speed was 1/4000, otherwise it was too bright. For the stars it was 8″, otherwise black field. Let me know what you think and maybe show yours?

Since I got my 55-250 lens (see previous post) I’m really able to make some pretty decent pictures without much effort. Take a look at this one, took this one yesterday. I was taking pictures of the purple flowers and suddenly a bee landed on them, this is the result. I hope that you like it! You can view it on DeviantART also here.
